The Peninsula Shanghai awarded with a total of three Michelin stars

The Peninsula Shanghai is honoured with a total of three Michelin stars at the launch of The Michelin Guide Shanghai 2017, the 28th edition of the world-famous Michelin restaurant guides and the first in Mainland China. Yi Long Court was awarded two Michelin stars and Sir Elly’s received one star – making The Peninsula Shanghai the only hotel in Mainland China with two Michelin-starred restaurants simultaneously.

The awarding of Michelin stars to Sir Elly’s, which serves modern European cuisine, and Yi Long Court, which specialises in refined Cantonese dining, represents a significant milestone for The Peninsula Shanghai. Under the overall guidance of Executive Chef Terrence Crandall, The Peninsula Shanghai has established itself as an acclaimed dining destination in town since opening on the Bund in 2009.

Diners at Yi Long Court can enjoy Michelin-starred Executive Chinese Chef Tang Chi Keung’s exquisite Cantonese dishes and modern adaptations of classic Chinese dishes. Hong Kong-born Chef Tang, who opened Yi Long Court in October 2009, returned to The Peninsula Shanghai in April 2016 after spending five years catering Cantonese inspired menus at Hei Fung Terrace at The Peninsula Tokyo, which earned a Michelin star during his tenure. Yi Long Court's signature dishes include organic tomato soup with giant grouper fillet, barbecued Jiangsu Kurobuta pork, and fried rice with king crab, Jinhua ham and fresh vegetables.

At Sir Elly’s, French-born Chef de Cuisine Hans Zahner teams up with his fellow countrymen, Executive Pastry Chef Lucien Gaultier, plus French-speaking Can Erikan, Manager of Sir Elly’s and formerly part of the pre-opening team at The Peninsula Paris, to create contemporary European cuisine in a modern setting combined with breathtaking views of the Bund, Huangpu River and the Pudong skyline.
