The Art of Pink Photography and Gastronomy

October 30, 2015
Purposeful pink creativity abounds in October as The Peninsula Shanghai supports The Art of Pink campaign by raising funds for the China Breast Cancer Foundation. Pink inspiration can be enjoyed both inside and outside the hotel. Guests and residents strolling the riverfront Bund and the Pudong shoreline will notice a radiant new landmark as the facade is illuminated in pink each evening. Inside, Chinese photographic art and rose-hued gourmet delights are among the month’s many highlights.

Throughout October, The Lobby presents a 2D art exhibition by Chinese photographer and visual artist Chen Man. The specially commissioned showcase, which is themed Touch Me… Take Care of Me, features a video and inspiring documentary photographs. Guests can interact with the exhibition during a daily one-hour time-lapse photography shoot. At the end of the month, the installation will be auctioned at a Pink Tie gala dinner hosted at The Rosamonde Aviation Lounge, with the proceeds donated to help support the China Breast Cancer Foundation’s research and patient care initiatives.

Born and raised in Beijing, Chen Man is one of China’s most in-demand photographic artists. Her innovative visual language is infused by Chinese traditional philosophy and an innate fascination with the nuances of glamour. Chen Man’s voguish fashion photography effortlessly captures the socio-cultural fascinations of the moment, and her thought-provoking cover shoots have transformed Chinese fashion and lifestyle publishing.

Also this month, The Lobby serves an exquisite Art of Pink Afternoon Tea. The famous silver tea tray is layered with pink and rose-tinted sweet and savoury treats. Cocktail connoisseurs can sip and savour a delicious [La vie en Rose] mixed by the hotel’s talented bartenders while enjoying views of the Bund, Huangpu River and Pudong skyline.

And for guests seeking a delectable gift to take home, the hand-made Pink Eclairs at The Peninsula Boutique are almost too pretty to eat.
