  • When it comes to China’s thriving contemporary arts scene, The Peninsula Shanghai has the inside track covered. The Art in Focus programme offers a private guided tour by the Deputy Curator of the acclaimed Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA).

    Housed in a large glasshouse in the heart of People’s Park, MOCA is a thrilling venue for connoisseurs of Chinese, Asian and international contemporary art, photography and commercial design. During the tour, your expert guide will explain the history and inspirations of the works on display, and discuss MOCA’s prestigious roll call of previous and upcoming art showcases.

      During your guided tour of Shanghai MOCA, the Deputy Curator will provide exclusive insights about the artworks on display in the current exhibition.       Hong Merchant, housed in a 1920s French Concession villa, is a haven of retro Shanghai style.   • The Peninsula Shanghai brings the thrill and excitement of automobile history up close with the China’s Motor City experience. Your journey begins with a chauffeured ride in a BMW limousine to the Shanghai Auto Museum which is part of the Shanghai International Automobile City in Jiading. Your child will learn the basic skills, ingredients and processes of chocolate making, and can try their hand at perfecting their own confectionery creation.   • Flying kites above the Bund and over the Huangpu River has long been a favourite pastime for Shanghai children and their parents. This educational Peninsula Kids’ Academy workshop enables your children to develop an appreciation of Chinese culture and kite craftsmanship.

    The Chinese Kite Making class teaches the history and the basic skills of kite making in a traditional workshop, located in a famous residential alley in Shanghai. Your junior kite makers can try their hand at creating their own kite, and weather permitting, will be able fly it on the famous Shanghai Bund together with you and their new friends made during the class.
